Ralph Ryan, 86, of South Salem, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at Adena Greenfield Area Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 2, 1924 in Ross County, the son of the late Glenn and Irene (Spurgeon) Ryan.
He was a retired truck driver for Omar Bakery in Columbus after 30 years of service and 3 million miles of safe driving. He attended Buckskin High School and served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
He is survived by his wife, Edith L. (Sword) Ryan; four sons, Glenn (Kim) Ryan of Chillicothe, Jack Ryan of Columbus, James (Debbie) Ryan of South Salem, and Robert (Vicki) Ryan of South Salem; three daughters, Ruth Ann Bates of Columbus, Dixie (Larry) Teeters of Pataskala, and Patty (Daryl) Plummer of Columbus; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bertha Neel of Hillsboro, Florence Amann of Hillsboro, and Darlene Chapman of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Robert Ryan; a son, Gary Lee Ryan; and two daughters, Lois Lucas and Betty Houck.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Jack Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.
