Phyllis A. Abdon, 75, of Hillsboro, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at her residence near Hillsboro.
She was born Oct. 14, 1935 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Hobart and Lula (Parr) Storer.
She had been a 4-H adviser and was a volunteer and the treasurer of the Belfast Community Center Inc. She organized all family reunions and holiday events and loved yard sales, crocheting and quilting.
Surviving are her children: a son, Dean (Debbie) Skidmore of Williamsburg; and daughters, Barbara Skidmore of Vero Beach, Fla.; Angela (Tom McCleese) Aber of Sinking Spring, and Bobbi Jo Abdon-Hess of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Tara (Brian) McKenzie, Lisa (Donnie) Anderson, Jasmine (Brian) Reid, Jeremy (Mary) Roades, Alan (Sarah) Kier, and Sam Skidmore; 13 great-grandchildren, Zack, A.J., Emily, Ezra McKenzie; Taylor, Aaron, John Paul Anderson; Reannen Kiley, Brianna Reid, Gabe Roades; Briant, Alexis, and Carly Kier; a sister, Sharon Rankin of Hillsboro; special friends, Nellie Williamson and Sylvia Brannen; and several nieces, nephews and beloved pets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Abdon; and a sister, Mabel Chaney.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Pastor Patricia Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery, Belfast.
Friends will be received from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
