Pastor John M. Maggard

Pastor John M. Maggard (ret.), 70, Hillsboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at his residence in Monticello, Ky. as a result of an accident.
He was born Jan. 7, 1942 at McKee, Ky., the son of the late Joe Maggard and Dorothy E. (Hedrick) Maggard of Hillsboro.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virgie J. Jones and Bertie Mae Alcorn.
He retired in August 2011 after 36 years as pastor of the Hillsboro Church of God and had devoted 48 years of his life to the ministry. Pastor Maggard has spent many hours visiting hospital, nursing homes and home visits.
On March 4, 1962 he was united in marriage to Patricia (Fronk) Maggard, who survives; mother, Dorothy Maggard of Hillsboro; one son, Ronald E. Hopkins of Columbus; three grandsons, Evan, Tyler and Brandon; four brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. James L. and Kitty Maggard of Franklin, William and Darlene Maggard of Germantown, the Rev. Robert and Beverly Maggard of Carlisle, Thomas and Shirley Maggard of Carlisle; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at the Hillsboro Church of God, 5760 U.S. 62 south, Hillsboro, where visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 p.m.
Pastor Daniel Hess will officiate. Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg.
