Norman L. Gingerich, 71, of Leesburg, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at his residence.

He was born May 6, 1940 in Hamilton, the son of the late Clarence Norman and Marguerite Hildegard (Lorenzen) Gingerich.

He graduated from Upper Arlington High School and Rio Grande College and received his master's degree from the University of Cincinnati. He was a retired teacher at McClain High School, where he taught in the special education and OWE programs. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Southern Ohio Forge and Anvil Club and the Appalachian Blacksmith Association.

On Sept. 14, 1983, he married the former Susan Kensinger, who survives, along with his children, Robin (Lorie) Gingerich of Ossian, Ind. and Alison Gingerich of Leesburg; step-grandchildren Alex and Kate Babb; brother Lawrence (Ann) Gingerich of Creole, Ohio; and special cousins Dr. Carl (Barb) Schwiesow and Dr. John (Deb) Schwiesow.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, Greenfield, followed by cremation. The Revs. Joseph Current and Terry Washburn will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Monday.
