Nancy Cherie Eckert age 78 of Hillsboro died Friday, April 23, 2010 at the
Heartland of Hillsboro.
She was born June 24, 1931 in Lititz, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Walter and Grace Adams Landis. Mrs. Eckert had been the regional director of the Ohio Bureau of Employment Service for many years. She had been the original “Welcome Wagon” representative in Hillsboro, served on the Festival of the Bells Committee for many years and had worked for the Highland County Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Highland County Historical Society.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Grey (Jennifer) Eckert of Washington Court House, Doug (Sheila) Eckert of Hillsboro, one grandson, Carl Alrico Eckert of
Beavercreek, one great granddaughter, Kennedy Marie Eckert, three sisters,
Marilyn (Gary) Zong of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Audrey (Randy) Long of Strasburg, Pennsylvania, Vivian (Harry) Struber of Lititz, Pennsylvania and one sister-in-law, Svea (Ray) Hoover of New Holland, Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B.
Eckert on August 25, 1978. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro at a date to be announced. Burial
with additional services will take place at the MacPelah Cemetery in Lititz,
Pennsylvania.
