Myrtle Alma Hughes, 87, of Greenfield, died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at her home.
She was born July 11, 1922 in Elm Grove, W.Va., the daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy Katherine (Daughtery) Shaw.
She was a homemaker and had served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Thomas) Morello, of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Trent (Bylle) Morello of Columbus, Tonya (Matt) Bird of Stuart, Va., and Ross Morello of Columbus; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; one sister, Helen (Harold) Andrews, of Beaverdam, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oliver Hughes, who passed away in 2001; five sisters, Ruth Case, Elsie Griener, Mary Bertram, Jean Jones, and Amy McBride; and three brothers, Thomas Shaw, Charles Shaw, and Buck Shaw.
Services were held 4 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home of Greenfield. A visitation took place 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Monday, May 3 at the Twin Township Cemetery, Bourneville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Services of Adena Health System, 111 W. Water Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
