Mildred Eileen Daugherty, 86, of Greenfield, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 at Edgewood Manor of Greenfield.
She was born April 16, 1924 in Coshocton, Ohio, the daughter of James Harold and Georgia (Amore) Ostler.
She was a homemaker and formerly attended the Edward Lee McClain High School. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to yard sales, and playing poker. She was a charter member of VFW Post 4736 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 14 Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Eddie E. (Denise) Everhart of Murphy, N.C., Dick L. (Betty) Daugherty of Greenfield, and Dusty D. (Donna Simpson) Daugherty of Chillicothe; three daughters, Connie L. (Kenneth) Humphrey of Greenfield, Sunny (Mike) Howland of Greenfield, and Denise "Chich" Nice of Greenfield; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends at Edgewood Manor and Hospice of Hope.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman "Turk" Daugherty, on Oct. 19, 1990; a daughter, Vicki D. James; two grandsons, Phillip James and Chad James; a great-grandson, Terry Lee Everhart II; two sisters, Velma Sumner and Betty Payne; five brothers, Jim Smith, Jake Smith, Gary Smith, Kenny Bennett, and Charles Albert; her father, James Harold Ostler; and her mother, Georgia Ostler Smith.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Dennis Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery. A visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 from 4-8 p.m.
