Matthew J. McDonald II (“Macky”) passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at 3:15 a.m.

He was born Jan. 2, 1935 to the late Matthew W. and Dorothy (Haines) McDonald.

Macky farmed his whole life and retired from RCI. He was past president of the Board of Review for Boy Scouts, past Fair Board Member and past 4-H advisor of 50 years, and he was very active in Paint Valley sports.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol J. (Wilson) McDonald; his children, Roxanna (Jeff) Stevison, Tamela (Gary) Writsel, Matthew W. (Rita) McDonald, Sharma (David) Knisley, Bryan McDonald (Mark Brentlinger) and Robert H. (Claire) McDonald; 13 grandchildren, Ashley (Brad) Reeves, Jessica (Kyle) Crosby, Marissa (Don) Parsley, Samantha (Nathan) Brush, Matthew A. Cook, Aleah (Gabe) Page, Jamie Stevison, Sandra Knisley, Jonathon (Cortney) Scott, Matthew J. (Hope) McDonald, Jeffery Stevison, Robyn Scott and Macky McDonald; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Robert H. and Louise E. Wilson as well as a grandson, Jeremy Bryan Stevison and a sister, Barbara Nelson.

A celebration of Macky’s life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at the McDonald House on Falls Road, Bainbridge with Rev. James Grove officiating. The Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge is serving the family.
