Lester U. Wallis
Lester U. Wallis, 88, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at the Highland District Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born in Milford on July 21, 1924, the son of the late Albert and Velma (Thompson) Wallis.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wallis; and one brother, Howard Eugene Wallis.
Lester was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, a life member of the Highland County Historical Society, Southern Ohio Genealogy Society, First Families of Highland County, NRA, was an avid photographer, owned and operated Burt Wallis & Sons Home Improvement, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Gall) Wallis, whom he married on June 2, 1963; one daughter, and son-in-law, Beth and Andy Biggs of Loveland; a niece, Ruth Ann and husband, Dan Shively of Troy, Texas; one nephew, Eddie Wallis of Arizona; and a cousin, Darrell Thompson of Arizona.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Mick Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
