Laverne Hooley
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laverne Hooley, a beloved, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, who left this world on Jan. 1, 2026, at the age of 75.
She was born Jan. 23, 1950, in Adams County.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Alpha Conley; husband, Butch Hooley; three brothers, Floyd, Michael and David Conley; and four sisters, Barbara Lease, Pearline Jordon, Myrtle Hawes and Ruth Ann Wical. Laverne is survived by her two daughters, Robin Elaine Hooley and Cory (Isaac) Curtis, who cherished their mother beyond words and will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her loving sister, Sharon Conley; five grandchildren; and many other extending family members and friends who will remember her kindness and the laughter they shared throughout their lives.
Laverne had a spirited personality that shone brightly in every endeavor she pursued. A devoted member of the Hillsboro Church of God, she found joy in her faith and community. She was also a familiar face at the local VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary, where her enthusiasm for camaraderie and service left a lasting impact. In her leisure time, Laverne enjoyed playing bingo, often sharing laughter and stories with fellow players. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
