L. Duane Allen
L. Duane Allen, 86, of Lynchburg died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at his home.
He was born July 10, 1926 near Lynchburg, the son of the late Truman E. and Hazel Lavon Lafferty Allen.
Mr. Allen had retired from the General Motors Corporation after 32 years of service. He was a life member of the Lynchburg VFW Post and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Faul Allen, whom he had married on May 21, 1955; two daughters, Toni (Dana) Mount of Lynchburg and Joni (Tal) Smith of Victoria, Texas; four grandchildren, Shaun Mount of Cincinnati, Shane (Jenna) Mount of Newark, Del., Ashli (Wes) Martin of Wilmington and Amber (Daniel) Johnson of Coppers Cove, Texas; one great-grandson, Jaxson Martin of Wilmington; one special niece, Suki (Jerry) Harter of Lynchburg; and several additional nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23 at the Troutwine Cemetery. Paul Carpenter will officiate. Military services will be presented by the Highland County Honor Guard.
