June L. Ober, 93, of Urbana, passed away Dec. 18, 2013.  

She was born on June 20, 1920 in Hillsboro to the late James and Goldie (Young) Wilkin.

June was a member of the McKee’s Creek Chapel and the Hill and Valley Club, as well as the West Liberty-Salem PTA and Band Mothers. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross, the Farm Bureau Women’s Organization, Salem Township Polling and the Soil and Water Conservation. June and her late husband, Homer, hosted two local radio shows for WBLY Radio and were Rotary Famers of the Year. She was an organist for Jenkins Chapel Church for many years.

June is survived by her son, Paul Mason (Lucia) Ober of Urbana; her grandchildren, Jody Lee (Shawn) Druckenbroad of Springfield, Paul Jason (Teri) Ober of Urbana and Rachel, Seth, Matthew, Samuel, Isaac and Thomas Yeargan of Urbana; her great-grandchildren, Cassandra Watts, Jakeb Bard, Logan Druckenbroad, Anthony Cordle and Mary Kathryn Ober; her sisters-in-law, Eloise (George) Ropp of Urbana, Virginia Ann (Jack) Turner of Urbana and Freida Ober of Cable; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer P. Ober; her parents, James and Goldie Wilkin; her mother and father-in-law, Melby F. and Minit Ober; her brothers, Dana Russel Wilkin, James Ernest (Bernice) Wilkin; her sisters, Sara Louise (Walter) Gray, Lois Jean (James) Smith and Elizabeth Pauline Wilkin; and her brothers-in-law, Alva Mason Ober and Melby Paul Ober.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 in the funeral home with pastors Rev. Floyd Lundy and Rev. Tom Amlin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
