Jon Brennfleck, 76, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Impatient Center.

He was born in Trenton, N.J. on June 13, 1937, the son of the late Reginald and Anna (Youngblood) Brennfleck.

He graduated from Ewing High School in 1955 and married his high school sweetheart Carol (Anderson) Brennfleck on July 25, 1959. He worked for NJ Bell Telephone and later for Raritan Township as head mechanic. He was a member of the Teamsters' Union. He always admired the western United States, and in 1979, the family relocated to Berthoud, Colo., where he and his wife partnered as small business owners. They retired in 1996 and moved to the Buckhorn Canyon in the Colorado foothills. In 2008, they moved to Hillsboro to be closer to family.

Jon was a member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and the Army Reserve. He was an outdoorsman and expert marksman who loved to hunt, fish, horseback ride and train his Labrador retrievers. He had a green thumb and grew a large vegetable garden every year. Fly-tying, woodworking and building fine furniture were also among his favorite pastimes.



Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Conrad A. Brennfleck.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol (Anderson) Brennfleck of Hillsboro; two daughters, Emilie Leonard of Ewing, N.J. and Elizabeth Brennfleck of Hillsboro; and granddaughter Maia Leonard of Ewing, N.J.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring with Rev. Terry Washburn officiating. Friends may call from 3-4 p.m.
