John William Gregory, 72, of Hillsboro, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday morning, Oct. 16, 2010 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.

He was born Jan. 6, 1938 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Homer & Roxie (Colville) Gregory. He married Joyce M. Ward, who survives, on Nov. 16, 1957 in Hillsboro.

John had been a self-employed logger.

He served for eight years in the National Guard and was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his wife, other survivors include his two daughters, Valerie (Tom) Mullikin of South Salem and Teresa (Bob) Saucedo of Peebles; two sons, John W. "Bill" Gregory II and Homer Scott Gregory, both of Washington Court House; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Miracle, Melissa, Rhea, Jessica, Devin, Kaci, and Kayla; four great-grandchildren, Starla, Abbi, Laci, and T.J.; two sisters, Betty Strawsbaugh of California, Ky. and Joyce Fitzpatrick of Hillsboro; special brother & sisters, Floyd (Carol Sue) Colville of Hillsboro, Delores Colville of Hillsboro, and Donna Brown of Adams County; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his special parents who raised him, Helen & Demaree Colville; four brothers, Wayne, Charles, Bobby, & Jim; and two sisters, Carolyn Yankee and Janet Gregory.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21 at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 East Main Street, Hillsboro with Revs. Tom Zile and Curtis Randolph officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
