John W. Emery, 66 years of Hillsboro, died Thursday, August 23, 2012.

He was born Sept. 25, 1945 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Hugh W. and Mary B. (Cox) Emery.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by one sister, Ramona A. Emery.

He was a 1963 graduate of Belfast High School, member of the Prospect United Methodist Church, F.O.E. Aerie 1161 Hillsboro, AMVETS Post 61 Hillsboro, and retired from ODOT after 30 years of service.

On March 7, 1966 he was united in marriage to Patsy Ann (Farmer) Emery who survives; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Mark Edenfield of Hillsboro; one son, Heath Emery of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Heath Edenfield, Grant Edenfield, Ethan Emery, Lacee Emery; one sister, Barbara Siders of Hillsboro; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

The Rev. Mick Parks will officiate with burial to follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
