John E. “Eddie” Gratsch, 94, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at his home.
He was born March 20, 1917 in Dayton, the son of the late Robert and Ann Grahm Gratsch.
Mr. Gratsch had retired after 32 years of service with the General Motors Corporation. He was a member of the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church and a member of the Beaver Valley Masonic Lodge #753 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Johnson Rose Gratsch, whom he had married on Feb. 14, 1994 in Hillsboro; one daughter, Carol Ann Gratsch of Harbor Springs, Mich.; four stepsons, Dale (Melveen) Dunham of Beavercreek, Richard (Carole) Dunham of Texas, Michael (Linn) Dunham of Texas and Ronald (Midge) Rose of New Vienna; 17 grandchildren, John Gratsch, Karen Combs, Tom, Jeff, Duane, Mike and Steve Dunham, Diane Meyers, Brenda Hartley, Susan Albers, Kristin Hamilton, Amber Haines, William Carl Rose, Sonya Jackson, Monte Rose, Mickey Rose and Lynn Ellen; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Flowers Gratsch on Nov. 23, 1992; one stepson, William Gerald Rose; one stepdaughter, Judy Logan; and one sister, Dorothy Back.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. Pastor D.R. Lamb will officiate. Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Pike County. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. Masonic services will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow the visitation from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.
