John Albert “Jack” Jolley, 85, of Hillsboro, died Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2011 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Dayton, the son of the late Albert and Ina (Faris) Jolley.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and retired from the Dayton Fire Department after 32 years of service. He was a member of AmVets Post 61, and was a member of the Bainbridge Masonic Lodge #196. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was a proud member of the Highland County Honor Guard for many years.
On May 6, 1978, in Kettering, he married his wife of 32 years, Annette (Wesley) Jolley, who survives. He is also survived by two children, Jack Albert Jolley and his wife Sue of Sylvania and Debbie Brewer and her husband Gary of Beavercreek; six grandchildren, David M. Jolley and Todd P. Jolley, both of Sylvania, Gary Brewer, Jr. and Matt Brewer of Columbus and Matt Dixon and Jessica Dixon, both of Beavercreek; a sister, Rosemary Baty of Dayton; as well as a special nephew, Robert Baty of Dayton and nephew Steve Baty of Miamisburg. He also loved and was loved by members of the Wesley family, including Miriam, Rita, John, Gene, Joe, Luzene, and Howard “Sonny.”
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Dan Lamb will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at David’s Cemetery in Kettering. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 until 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will take place at 2:45 p.m.
