Jean Pitzer, 63, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at her residence.

She was born May 12, 1947 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Alva Frances Brown and Clara Margaret Wilson Brown.

She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington and was a former employee at Laurel Oaks, where she had worked as a cook and the cafeteria manager.

Surviving are her husband, William "Bill" Pitzer, Sr., whom she married Oct. 17, 1964; one son, William Denver (Marisol) Pitzer Jr. of Keller, Texas; one daughter, Melinda "Mindy" (Richard) Pitzer Davidson of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Tinisha Watters of Wilmington, Roberta Watters of Wilmington, and Diego Pitzer of Keller, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Skyla Yerian; one brother, Frances Ray Brown of Piketon; four sisters, Sandra Kay Allen of Hillsboro, Ethel Margaret (Bob) Naylor of Lynchburg, Donna June Throckmorton of Hillsboro, and Phyllis Gay Brown of Hillsboro; and special friends Patricia & James Prater of Leesburg and Carla & Rick Wren of Wilmington.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Allen, and a great-grandson, Leland Yerian.

Services will be held at Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington, Friday, May 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Kelly D. McInerney officiating. Interment will follow in the Springfield Friends Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the church, Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 6-8 p.m.
