Janet Jeannine Smith, 77, of South Salem, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026 at Greenfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
 
She was born Oct. 16, 1948 in Ross County, the daughter of David and Leota (White) Johnson.
 
She was a 1966 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and member of South Salem United Methodist Church. She was a beautician for many years and was a homemaker. Her greatest joy was her role as “mamaw.” She treasured every moment spent with her granddaughter.
 
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Smith, whom she married on Dec. 31, 1985; one son, Zachary (Brittany) Smith of Greenfield; one granddaughter, Quinn; one brother, Larry (Cynthia) Johnson of Greenfield; one sister, Joy (Michael) Stewart of Lancaster; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Bernard, Donald, Roger, Ronnie, David and Marvin Johnson; one sister, Carol Stewart; and both parents.
 
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at the South Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor Sam Mincey and Pastor Dan Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, at the church.  
 
The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
