James A. Penn, 78, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his home.
He was born April 26, 1932 in Hillsboro, the son of the late James A. and Mildred Stratton Penn.
Mr. Penn had owned and operated Penn’s Bar and Grill in Hillsboro from 1952 until 1978. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Hillsboro VFW Post 9094 and the Bainbridge American Legion Post 14.
He is survived by two daughters, Tina Penn of Hillsboro and Tara (Terry) Abrams of Wyoming, Ohio; one son, James A. (Debora) Penn of Mason; five grandchildren, Mary Jo Penn, A. J. Penn, Sophia Abrams, Ellie Abrams and Drew Abrams; and one sister, Jewel (Bill) Jenike of Bethel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise (Rhoads) Penn, and three sisters, Joanne Dobert, Janice Allen and Jane Conrad.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 21st at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Bill Jenike will officiate. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
