James Joseph “Jim” Kinzer

James Joseph “Jim” Kinzer, 83, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 at the Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Panama City, Fla. 

He was born Dec. 6, 1942 in Hillsboro, Ohio the son of the late Arthur R. and Ruth E. Greathouse Kinzer. 

Jim had worked for the International Farm Machinery Company for several years and later worked for Prudential Insurance and Merrill Lynch Financial. He was a 1960 graduate of Hillsboro High School and a 1964 graduate of The Ohio State University. 

Jim was an instructor of Finance and Insurance for Hondros College for 22 years and had served six years in the U.S. Air Force Ohio National Guard attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. 

Jim and his wife, Bonnie, moved to his family farm near Samantha in 1992 and enjoyed the farm, golfing and other outdoor sports. In the winter months, they would travel to Kauai, Hawaii and in 2022 they moved to Panama City Beach, Fla. to be close to family and continue their love of the sand and water. 

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean Brandt Kinzer, whom he married on June 20, 1964 in Columbus, Ohio; one son, Douglas James (Natalie) Kinzer of Panama City Beach, Fla.; and two grandsons, Bo James Kinzer and Luke Alan Kinzer. 

Memorial services will be held in Florida with burial of cremains in the High Top Cemetery in Samantha.
