Jack C. Strickland, 73, of Hillsboro, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 25, 1938 in Custer, S.D., the son of the late Paul B. and Sarah (Whitney) Strickland.
Jack was a 1957 graduate of Verdugo Hills High School of Tujunga, Calif. Upon graduating from high school, Jack attended the Glendale Community College for two years and the Los Angeles Technical Trade College, where he became a machinist. Jack worked for the David Kopf Company in California as a machinist, where they manufactured medical research instruments. He worked for Warner Brothers Studio for 14 years as a grip. In 1989, Jack relocated to Ohio, where he retired from Candle-Lite in 2000.
Jack attended Marshall United Methodist Church. He was initiated in 1954 into the LaCrescenta Valley DeMolay. In 1976, became a member of the LaCrescenta Valley Lodge #652, and in 1989, he joined the Highland Lodge #38 F.& A.M. in Hillsboro.
On July 3, 1966, Jack was united in marriage to Sylvia (Brown) Strickland, who survives. He is also survived by one son, Don Paul Strickland of Hillsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura Jean and Anthony Meade of Hillsboro; and three grandchildren, Kaitlin Ireland Swayne, Nathan Robert Strickland, Hope Neola Meade.
According to Jack's wishes, he was cremated. No visitation or funeral service will be observed.
