Gerald A. “Jerry” Johnson, 76, of Hillsboro, died Monday morning, March 28, 2011 at the Highland District Hospital.

He was born March 9, 1935, in Norwood, a son of the late Norman Glenn and Sylvia (Allen) Johnson.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and had retired from the Crown Cork & Seal Company after 39 years of service. He attended the Hillsboro Church Of The Nazarene and was a lifetime member of the N.R.A.

On June 1, 1957, in Loveland, at the Branch Hill Church of Christ, he married his wife of 53 years, Alice (Jones) Johnson, and she survives.

He is also survived by two children, Joanna Foreman and her husband John of Loveland and C.J. (Tina Brooks) Johnson of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Chauanna Marie Johnson, Raya Nicole Johnson, Cory James Johnson, John Foreman, Jr., and Ashley Renee Foreman; one brother, James David (Catherine “Cookie”) Johnson of Loveland; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Tom Zile and Rev. Curtis Randolph will officiate. The Highland County Honor Guard will accord military honors immediately following services at the church. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at the church.
