Gary G. Harper, 80, of Leesburg, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 18, 1931 in Fairmont, W.Va., the son of the late John and Ethel M. Gatrell Harper.
Mr. Harper had been the Industrial Arts Teacher in Fairfield Schools for many years and had also been a millwright for the Spencer Burgess Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by two daughters, Melanie (Scott Simpson) Harper and Betsy (Paul McComb) Harper, both of Leesburg; four grandchildren, Aesa McComb of Leesburg, Matthew Larrick of Columbus, Brandon Simpson of Canal Winchester and Justine Simpson of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Maronee (Curt) Ulman of Sun City, Ariz.; and two nephews, Jeffrey “Kip” Janes of Houston, Texas and Jan “Kim” Janes of Angel Fire, N.M.
On Oct. 20, 1994, his wife, Jane L. (Robey) Harper, whom he had married on July 3, 1952, preceded him in death.
Family and friends are invited to attend on Sunday, Sept. 2 from 2-5 p.m. a Memorial Open House to be held in Mr. Harper’s self-designed shop, located at 388 West Main Street in Leesburg.
