Fairley R. "Rocky" Smith, 59, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 20, 1950 in Hillsboro, the son of the late James R. and Mary M. (Nichols) Smith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James R. Smith, Jr.
Rocky worked at Hank and Bill's for many years and later opened his own small engine repair business from home, where he worked until 2005.
On Apr. 30, 1971, he was united in marriage to Margaret (Dunseith) Smith, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Michelle and Todd Whited of Hillsboro; two sons and daughter-in-law, Fairley R. "Smitty" Smith, Jr. of Hillsboro and Shane Michael and Sonya Smith of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren, Taylor, Hannah and Gabe Whited, Rocky, Mackenzie, Gage, Mason, Kaylee and Dylan Smith; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Donna Smith of Hillsboro; two sisters, Roberta Brown of Hillsboro and Tama Smith of Hillsboro; a mother-in-law, Mary Dunseith of Hillsboro; several niece and nephews; cousins; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Ron Brown will officiate services.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
