Edward L. Groves, Sr., 77, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, April 12 at the OSU Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born Jan. 11, 1934 in Ross County, the son of the late Christopher Angus and Rosie May Ellen (Cottrill) Groves.

He was formerly a factory employee.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia I. (Sheline) Groves, whom he married Feb. 23, 1952; nine daughters, Ellen (Wayne) Mick of Greenfield, Rosemary Daugherty of Greenfield, Patty (David) Smith of Hillsboro, Linda (James) Eldridge of Bainbridge, Brenda (Les) Skaggs of Bainbridge, Janie (Brant) Dean of Hillsboro, Norma (Gary) Nelson of Chillicothe, Betty (Paul) Cooper of Greenfield, and Barbara (Rick) Willett of Greenfield; one son, Leroy (Jean) Groves of HIllsboro; one sister, Betty Miller of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Carolyn Groves of Washington C.H; and special friend Chuck Nebbergall of Greenfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.

In accordance with Mr. Groves' wishes, cremation will take place, and there will be a memorial service held at a later date.

The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
