Doris J. Griffith Soale, 82, of Franklin, passed away Monday morning, May 16, 2011 at the Butler Warren Care Center.
She was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late John Fred and Francis (Reveal) Rammel.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who dedicated her life to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Howard “Gene” Soale. She is also survived by three daughters, Nancy Jo Griffith of Glendale, Ariz., Jeri L. Elam and her husband Ronald of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Pam Sloan and her husband Wayne of Phoenix, Ariz.; a step-son, Brent (Brenda) Soale of Camden, Ohio; three grandchildren, Craig McMullen of Dayton, Krista (Damian) Chieppa of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Kellee Jo (Dylan) Stewart of Phoenix, Ariz.; a step-grandson, Brandon Soale; five great-grandchildren, Luke McMullen, Madison Chieppa, Samantha Cheippa, Rubee Jo Steward and Gwenn Dylan Steward; one brother, Paul Raymond Rammel of Xenia; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia Rammel of Hillsboro, Mazie Rammel of Lynchburg and Millie Rammel of Cincinnati, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 29 years, Elon Estol Griffith, on Aug. 13, 1975; two sisters, Margene Moorhead and Betty Evans; and four brothers, Mitchell Rammel, Robert Rammel, William Rammel and Donald Rammel.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
