Doranna Barrett Nicley, 91, of Hillsboro, passed away Nov. 30, 2010 at Highland District Hospital.
She was born in the Rainsboro community on May 31, 1919, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mabel Lucas.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Ralph K. Shrine 66, Women’s Club, Liberal Arts Club, Buckeye Twig, Senior Citizens and Hillsboro Church of Christ. In 1954 Doranna and Carlus Barrett built and operated the Tummy Treet, Hillsboro’s first drive-in restaurant. It was a popular eating spot for many years.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Carlus Barrett and brother, Laurence Lucas.
She is survived by her husband Meredith Nicley, daughter Deloris (Jerry) Wisbey of Cincinnati and son Leonard (Sue) Barrett of Titusville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jill (Todd) Somerville of Milford, Mich., Steven (Shannon) Wisbey of Louisville, Ky., Kirk Barrett of Ann Arbor, Mich., and David Barrett(Michele) of San Francisco, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Barrett and Jacob Wisbey of Louisville, Ky.; and her brother Ronald (Elvira) Lucas of Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at the Thompson Funeral Home with John Porter officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to The American Heart Association, P.O.
