Charles Ralph Shoemaker, 78, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Highland County on Dec. 8, 1934, the son of the late A.L. and Martha J. (Dixon) Shoemaker.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, C. Pauline Shoemaker, on Aug. 27, 2011; one brother, Raymond Shoemaker; and one sister, Mary Martha Davies.

He was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church and had retired from Ohio Bell.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Shoemaker and Michael Rhodes of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; two brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ferris and Patty Cummings of Hillsboro and John Cummings of Hillsboro; three sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Sam Colliver of Hillsboro, Shirley and Richard Matthews, of Jamestown, and Dr. Mary Lou and John Patton of Media, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at the Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Janie Shoemaker and the Rev. Debra Ketcham officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.
