Charles "Jeff" Swift, Sr., 68, of Hillsboro, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was born June 20, 1942 in Latham, the son of Arnold Ferris and Elma Leticia (Leath) Swift.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Crisis and was retired from Frantz Brothers Construction of Sidney, where he was involved with bridge building.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 14 of Bainbridge and was an avid reader.

He is survived by two daughters, Bridget (James) Davis of Bainbridge and Kimberly (Donnie) Neel of South Salem; one son, Charlie (Tara) Swift of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Gene Swift of Washington C.H.; one sister, Brenda Shoemaker of Bainbridge; several nieces, nephews and aunts; one uncle, Willard Mathena of Dublin; and his best friend, Gerald Swayne of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Stacy Renee Swift; one brother, Woody Patterson; two nephews, Tim Patterson and Thomas "Tucker" Howland; and both parents.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Kirk Mootispaw officiating. Burial will follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery with military rites to be provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.

Visitation will be held 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday with veterans appreciation services to begin at 1 p.m.
