Carole Ann Payne
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Carole Ann Payne, 89, of Mt.Orab, on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 at the Hospice of Hope Inpatient Care Center at the Adams County Regional Medical Center in Seaman.
She was born April 3, 1936 in Columbus, the daughter of the late Seren and Dorothy (Hakes) Marsh.
Carole was our dearly loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and she will be greatly missed by her loving family and close friends. Carole retired from her role in the Administration Department at Drake Hospital in Cincinnati. Her commitment to her work and the people she served was evident throughout her career. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carole was a member of the Eastern Star, where she nurtured meaningful friendships and contributed to the community. She also enjoyed reading, bowling and golfing, pursuits that brought her great joy and fulfillment.
Carole was preceded in death by her stepmother, Virginia “Ginny” Marsh; three husbands, Roger Parks in 1973, Thomas Allen in 2001 and Glen Anderson Payne in 2019; one brother, Donald Marsh; and one stepbrother, Dick Farra.
Carole is survived by five children, Kim Cole of Traveler Rest, S.C., Roger “Butch” Parks and wife Connie of Bethel, Cyndi Parks of Mt. Orab, Krystie O’Brien of Cincinnati and Cary Parks and wife, Tommi, of Goshen; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Nancy Shaffer of Hillsboro and Judy Holsapple of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Marsh and Patty Hakes both of Hillsboro; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Mt.Orab, Ohio. Rodger Marsh will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, interment will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery located at 101 state Route 138, Hillsboro.
