Carl Guthrie, 96, of the Mowrystown Community, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Xenia.
He was born Jan. 4, 1915 in Adams County, son of the late Hiriam Guthrie and Irma Weekes Guthrie.
He was baptized in 1942 in the Union Church of Christ, where he has been a member and was an elder and Sunday School teacher for 50 years. He was also the Whiteoak Township Clerk from 1960 until 2004 and also drove a school bus for 28 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Larry E. (Sharron) Guthrie of Beavercreek; five grandchildren, Cheryl (John) Bellucci, Dwayne (Michele) Rapp, Brett (Chris) Rapp, all of Xenia, Jennifer Guthrie of Columbus, and Ben (Amy) Guthrie of Beavercreek; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan Rapp, Allison Rapp, Curtis Guthrie, and Callie Guthrie.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dalena Fender Guthrie; his daughter, Janet L. Guthrie Rapp; and three brothers, Ralph, Ray, and Floyd Guthrie.
Services will be held at Union Church of Christ, near Taylorsville, Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Andrew Johnson, and Gary Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the church Friday, March 18, 2011 6-8 p.m.
