Betty L. Smith, 78, of Hillsboro, formerly of Greenfield, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Heartland of Hillsboro.

She was born on June 19, 1934 in Ross County, the daughter of Victor and Dorothy (Thomlinson) Hart.

She was a homemaker and a 1953 graduate of Bloomingburg High School and a longtime member of Leesburg Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Katharine (Rodney) Skaggs of Bainbridge and Terri (Gene) Broughton of Chillicothe; one son, Brian (Mitzi) Smith of Hillsboro; one daughter-in-law, Terri Smith of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Clara Mitchell of Cincinnati; several nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Alice Jean Shepard of Delaware, Norma Hart of Bloomingburg, Arlene Hart of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Smith, on Aug. 23, 1980; two sons, Roger and Mark Smith; two brothers, Victor Hart, Jr. and Billy Hart; and both parents and parents-in-law.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Steve Sokola officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin’s Creek “Bridge’s” Cemetery, Leesburg.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday until time of service.
