Betty C. Rhoads, 68, of Leesburg, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Highland District Hospital.
She was born August 5, 1942, in Owensville, Ky., a daughter of the late Charles Herbert Norris and Shella (McIlvaine) Norris of Hillsboro.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and never knew a stranger. She had attended the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. She retired in 2004 from Airborne Express in Wilmington after 17 years of service, and leaves many former coworkers who had become good friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Chuck Rhoads, whom she married June 5, 1962 in Leesburg. She is also survived by three children, Susan Jones and her husband, Lee, of Highland, Michael D. (John McDufford) Rhoads of Xenia, Bridgette Countryman and her husband, Shawn, of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Benjamin (Christy) Breeden of London, Kate Jones of Highland and Tanner Countryman of Greenfield; a great-granddaughter, Avery Grace Breeden of Greenfield; a brother, John Norris of New Vienna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by stillborn twins, Tedd and Todd Rhoads; a granddaughter, Riley Brooke Countryman; a sister, Margaret Ann Norris; and three brothers, James Norris, Charles H. “Red” Norris and Robert Norris.
Services will be 7 p.m. Friday, April 1 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family encourages memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to the Wilmington office of the Wright Patt Credit Union, 161 Carrie Drive, Wilmington, Ohio 45177 for her granddaughter Kate’s college education expenses.
