Barbara Joyce Smalley, 80, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at Highland District Hospital.

She was born Sept. 24, 1932 in Washington Court House, the daughter of the late Homer and Lelia (Pyle) Rodgers.

She attended the Leesburg Friends Church, and was a member of the United Society of Friends Women, the Leesburg Wednesday Club, the Leesburg Book Club and Red Hat Society.

She is survived by two children, Suanne Edwards and her husband, Don, and Randy Dixon and his wife, Cindy, both of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, David Howard Edwards of Hillsboro, Nathan Dixon and Nicole (Leo) Oxner, both of South Carolina; and a brother, Richard Rodgers of Winter Haven, Fla.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Howard E. Smalley, on Dec. 28, 2005.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Leesburg Friends Church. Pastor John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the church in Leesburg.
