Albert Lakes, 80, of Hillsboro died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at his home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1932 in Berea, Ky., the son of the late Lank and Cynthia Lakes.

Mr. Lakes had been a construction worker and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 9094 and a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1161.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Williamson Lakes, whom he married on Sept. 8, 1997; nine children, Lank Lakes of West Palm Beach, Fla., Margaret Lakes of Chattanooga, Tenn., Cynthia Lakes of Blanchester, Pamela Myers of Blanchester, Helen Walker of Clarksville, Albert Lank Lakes of Lebanon, Paul (Lisa) Jackson of Blanchester, Beth Ann Stanforth of Williamsburg, and Sandra (Morgan) Creager of Blanchester; 27 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gene Lakes; four brothers, John, Bert, Jake and Phillip Lakes; and two sisters, Evelyn Moon and Ester Rio.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory. Greg Seaman will officiate. Friends may call on Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Hillsboro.

Burial of cremains will be held for family and friends at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Greg Seaman will conduct graveside services followed with military honors by the Highland County Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church, 23 North Main Street, Sinking Spring, Ohio 45172.
