Wilmington OSHP Post investigates single-vehicle fatal crash in Fayette County

Wilmington – The Wilmington Ohio State Highway Patrol Post is investigating a single vehicle, single-occupant fatal crash in Fayette County. 

On September 20 at approximately 12:58 a.m., Brock Free, 20, from Washington Court House, was operating a 2023 Chevrolet Camaro, traveling north on US 62 in Union Township, Fayette County. 

The Chevrolet traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned multiple times into a soybean field. Mr. Free was ejected from the vehicle. 

Fayette County EMS transported Mr. Free to Fayette Adena Hospital in Washington Court House for serious injuries. Mr. Free was later flown to Grant Hospital, Columbus, where Mr. Free was later pronounced deceased.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Court House Police Department, Fayette County Fire and EMS, and Collins Towing and Recovery. 

This crash remains under investigation.
