Public comment period open for Cynthiana Road bridge replacement
CHILLICOTHE – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for a bridge replacement project on County Road 17 (Cynthiana Road) in Highland County.
HIG-CR17-1.08 (122086) It is proposed to replace the bridge on CR 17 (Cynthiana Road) between Hickory Hills Drive and SR 753 in Highland County, Ohio. The project is located in the rural area of Brush Creek Township.
Heads Branch is a perennial stream that is in the Scioto River drainage basin. Within the project area, Heads Branch has a drainage area of 3.33 square miles.
The project will require approximately 0.053 acres of permanent right-of-way. The permanent right-of-way is located along the forested stream channel.
The project will require approximately 0.142 acres of temporary right-of-way. The temporary right-of-way is located along the forested stream channel.
No homes or businesses will be removed by the project.
The roadway will be closed for the duration of the project. The local detour will be CR 17 (Cynthiana Road) to SR 753 to SR 41 to CR 11 (Barrett Mill Road) to CR 17 (Cynthiana Road). The detour is approximately 7.7 miles.
The funding for the project is 80% federal and 20% local.
The environmental commitment date is Jan. 3, 2028. The project is currently expected to be awarded 10/2/2028.
