LaRose responds to Democrats regarding voter roll maintenance

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose this week issued a response to congressional Democrats defending Ohio’s nationally recognized voter roll maintenance efforts and the state’s lawful collaboration with federal agencies to ensure accurate voter registration records.

In the letter, Secretary LaRose emphasized Ohio’s responsibility to use every available legal tool to maintain clean and accurate voter rolls and protect the integrity of the state’s elections.

“Regarding your May 12 letter about our collaboration with the United States Department of Justice, I appreciate the opportunity to defend our election integrity efforts in Ohio,” LaRose wrote. “I make no apologies for partnering with our nation’s top law enforcement agency, one of the most respected in the world, to ‘maintain the accuracy of the statewide voter registration database.’”

The letter explains that his office had legal authority to share relevant data with federal officials and reaffirms the Secretary of State’s commitment to ensuring only eligible voters remain on the rolls while protecting every lawful Ohioan’s right to vote.
