Highland County Sheriff’s Report
These incidents have been reported by the HCSO. The county remains on a Level 2 snow emergency.
Jan. 3
A deputy responded to the 6600 block of Wizard of Oz Way after a report of someone receiving threats.
Jan. 4
A deputy while on patrol, observed a vehicle traveling north on High Street at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted in the 900 block of N. High St.
The driver, identified as Willow Bright, 31, of Hillsboro, was cited for speeding.
While the deputy was issuing the citation, Bright exited her vehicle several times and began yelling at the deputy. Bright, returned to her vehicle, then backed up, nearly striking the deputy’s cruiser before fleeing the scene southbound on N. High St.
The pursuit came to an end when Bright nearly struck a Hillsboro Police cruiser at N. High and North St. Bright was taken in to custody and in addition to the speeding charge, was additionally charged with failure to comply with an officer.
