Batavia Post investigating fatal motorcycle crash

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP – The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a single-vehicle, fatal traffic crash involving a motorcycle.

The crash occurred on July 9, 2026, at approximately 10:06 p.m. on U.S. 50, near milepost 9, in Stonelick Township, Clermont County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Harley Davidson Street Glide, operated by Robert Dinka, 47, Batavia, along with his passenger, Jennifer Birchfield, 41, Mt. Orab, was traveling eastbound on US 50 when it failed to negotiate a curve. The Harley Davidson then traveled off the right side of the
roadway where it struck a ditch and overturned.

Mr. Dinka sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Birchfield sustained serious injuries and was transported to a loca l area hospital.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted with this incident by the Stonelick Township Fire Department and EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation, Clermont County Coroner’s Office, and Tarvin’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
