McClain, LC, Fairfield girls golf teams end season at sectionals
The 2023 girls golf Southeast District Div. II West Sectional was played at Buckeye Hills on Monday, Sept. 25.
Circleville won the team event, and Elaina Seeley from Circleville was the individual medalist, shooting a 3-under 67. Circleville, Westfall, Manchester and West Union all advanced to the district tournament as teams.
Individuals who advanced to districts are (four lowest scores not on a team already advancing): Sydney Ater (Adena), Peyton Everett (New Lexington), Mary Helber (Zane Trace) and Emmy Holt (North Adams).
Lynchburg-Clay finished fifth out of the 12 teams that fielded a full team. McClain finished ninth, and Fairfield finished 11th.
Scores for LCHS were: Autumn Wilkin (94), Sarah McKinney (111), Alexis Knisley (100), Kira Stratton (111) and Ava Doughman (134).
McClain’s individual totals were: Kaylin Sterling (101), Jacolyn Bolender (114), Abbie Lovett (111), Avery Murphy (123) and Reese Roble (128).
For the Fairfield Lady Lions, their scores were: McKinley Cox (117), Makayla Brown (132), Emmy Caudill (122), Allison Pavey (124) and Aylah Humphreys (154).

On Sept. 21, the McClain Lady Tigers golf team traveled to Locust Hills Golf Club to face Madison-Plains. The Lady Tigers won the match, and sophomore Kaylin Sterling was the match medalist.
The win brings the Lady Tigers’ record to 41-13.
McClain won the event with a score of 224, while MPHS scored 234.
For MHS, scores included: Kaylin Sterling 48, Hailey Cornett 53, Emma Marsh 56, Audrey Chamblin 67 and Sarah Kegley 67.
