With jobs scarce, local fuel prices among state's highest

To the editor:
According to the most recent information, Highland County ranks Number 2 in unemployment in the state of Ohio. Therefore, you would think some effort would be given by corporate America to help those out of work.
However, that does not appear to be the case, as I observed this past Saturday.
The price for a gallon of gas at most Hillsboro gas stations on Saturday morning was $2.93. However, as I drove north to the state fairgrounds, I noticed the price was usually less the further up the road I went. I found the normal price for gas on the east and north sides of Columbus was $2.73! A .20 per gallon difference! And these weren't the off brands, either. Speedway, Shell, Marathon, etc. A few cents difference I understand. But 20 cents?
Can people afford to leave Hillsboro to try to find work or hold a job? Draw your own conclusions.
