If you like the status quo, don't make any changes

This letter is directed to the city council and the safety director.
I am just wondering how long the citizens of Hillsboro will put up with all the waste. If the bogus charge for “Fire Inspection” seems to be a cover-up for ludicrous spending to put a stop light near Ponderosa and Holtfield, who is to benefit?
Speaking of stop lights, there has been no problem at that particular location until now. However, the flow of traffic through Hillsboro has been a tremendous problem for years.  About three or four years ago, I spoke with Mayor Zink and Mr. Holt about this problematic situation, and suggested that timers be used, as they are in other towns and cities, to alleviate the situation. My advice was ignored, but later they paid for the state of Ohio to do a study and give its input on the situation. The result of the study was a recommendation for timers to be used.  This was never implemented.
Then, by buying land that cannot be used and paying an exorbitant price for it, the city became embroiled with court proceedings. Whose brain-child was this? What group of intelligent people would dream of spending such a sum of the taxpayers'  money without even obtaining an appraisal?
It has taken a long time to put the city of Hillsboro in the miserable condition it is in, with one bad decision after another. Do Mayor Zink and Mr. Holt have a lifetime job with no wage cuts and no consequences? If everyone is satisfied with status quo, continue to put these folks in charge.
Sincerely,
Darwin Walters
