GOP needs a name change

To the editor:
The GOP needs name change Aafter the recent debates in Congress over unemployment compensation and the Bush tax cuts.
The Republicans in Congress (especially the Senate) should be called repugnicans because their actions are repugnant to the majority of America. They refuse to provide tax relief for 98% of our country unless the super rich get an unneeded and unasked for tax break, too.
While decrying the deficit in denying unemployment insurance to unfortunate Americans, many of whom are in our state, our county, and our town, they have no problem borrowing money from China to pay for tax breaks to billionaires.
Their main argument for this seems to be that the billionaires won’t create jobs if they are taxed a little more. Well the super rich have had lower taxes for ten years now, so where are these jobs? (Hint: they sent them out of the country to exploit cheap labor to get even richer.)
They also argue that this revenue if collected would just be spent foolishly and not applied to the deficit. Perhaps these repugnican senators don’t realize that repugnicans will now be in control of the house of representatives where all spending bills originate. Maybe they just don’t trust their repugnican counterparts in the House not to continue deficit spending and off the books war funding as in the Bush era.
The leading Senate repugnican has stated their main goal is for the Obama presidency be a failure, never mind that our country is also in jeopardy from these idealistic attacks.
For a party who likes to tout Christian family values, their position on these matters are indefensible, unpatriotic, and utterly repugnant!
Sincerely,
