To the editor:
Highland County Help Me Grow had another successful "Adopt-A-Family" project for the seventh consecutive year. Though it was another difficult year for many, due to job loss and the economy, we were fearful that we could not provide Christmas for as many as we have in the past. However, thanks to the generosity of the below named sponsors, we were able to help many children this past year.
Through the collaborative efforts of Highland County Help Me Grow and sponsors, children enrolled in the program and their siblings received Christmas gifts. Through this community effort, we were also able to provide gift cards for many families to purchase groceries.
Sponsors included: Jeff Miller, instructor, and students at the Highland County Alternative School; American Legion Post #568 in Leesburg; Fall Creek Friends Church in Hillsboro; First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro; NCB in Hillsboro; Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center in Hillsboro; Southern State Community College and the Patri-Tots Learning Center; St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro; Highland County Health Department Staff; Wilkin-Wilkin Insurance of Hillsboro; Merchants National Bank staff; Leesburg Ladies Auxiliary; Y-Gradale; Hillsboro Church of Christ; Hillsboro First United Methodist Church; Dr. Lesia Langston-McKenna and staff; Corner Pharmacy; Ms. Ann Schlater; Mr. Shane Wilkin and family; Mr. Rick Matthews and family; VFW #9094; and Ms. Vicky Newman.
The Help Me Grow program offers health and developmental services so that children start school healthy and ready to learn. The program is
voluntary and free to referred infants and toddlers from birth to 3 years. Services are designed with a family's concerns and goals in mind. Referrals may be faxed to (937) 840-0101. Referrals may also be made by calilng Cindy Bailey, Family Support Specialist, at (937) 840-0100 or toll-free at 1-888-734-7235.
Sincerely,
Cindy Bailey
