Lady Lions shut out Ripley, win by 9 goals
Nine goals and stellar defense for the Fairfield Lady Lions was more than what was needed to win on Wednesday night, defeating the host Ripley Lady Blue Jays in shutout fashion by a 9-0 score.
The offense for Fairfield had a hat trick from senior Faith Donley, who also had three assists in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference battle.
Fairfield freshman Vivian Henninger totaled two goals and one assist, while senior Kennedy Zink scored two goals and also had one assist.
Scoring one goal each were sophomore Ava Hooper and senior Kendal Welling.
In all, FHS totaled 31 shots, and 17 shots on goal.
At keeper, freshman Meri Jackson had two saves, and junior Claire Newkirk was also at keeper Wednesday as part of the shutout by the Lady Lions’ defense.
The Lady Lions are now 2-0-0 in the SHAC and 3-0-0 overall.
So far the season FHS has defeated Hillsboro, Peebles and Ripley.
Next for the Lady Lions is a non-conference game on Thursday, Aug. 24 against Miami Trace at 4:30 p.m.
