Lady Indians fall to Lady Golden Eagles

HILLSBORO — A strong second half just wasn't enough for the Hillsboro Lady Indians on Wednesday evening as they fell to the Madison-Plains Lady Golden Eagles 54-45.
The South Central Ohio League loss sends HHS to 2-6 overall (1-4 in the SCOL), while MP improves to 8-1 (4-1 in the SCOL) on the year.
"I thought our defense was good," HHS head coach JR Moberly said. "We did a good job rebounding. Offensively, when we executed our sets we had good looks at the basket, but when we didn't execute, we didn't have the looks we wanted.
"We also had too many turnovers when we didn't execute our offense, so we need to continue to work on that."
MP led 11-8 after the first quarter, followed by a lead of 21-16 at the midway point of the game as they outscored HHS 10-8 in the second frame.
In the third, MP scored 17 points, while HHS totaled 12, and in the final eight minutes, it was HHS leading 17-16.

Leading HHS in scoring was Trista Rhodes with 15 points, followed by Hannah Kibler and Kaylynn Bell with 10 points each.
Britney Bowen and Taylor Stanforth each scored four points, and Madison Snyder added two points to the Lady Indians' total score.
For the visiting Lady Golden Eagles, Abby Finney led with a game-high 16 points, followed by 13 points by Kelsey Woodyard and 11 points by Casey Knisley.
HHS was 5-of-8 from the free-throw line, while MP finished 19-of-26.
The Lady Indians play again on Thursday, Dec. 20 as they host the Highland County Shootout. HHS is scheduled to face the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs at 8 p.m. The first game of the event is McClain vs. Whiteoak at 6 p.m. Both games are at Hillsboro High School.
