Indians tennis win 3 straight in 2 days

The Hillsboro Indians boys tennis team continued their success in the South Central Ohio League this week with three wins, as they defeated the Miami Trace Panthers and the East Clinton Astros.

On April 29, at Miami Trace, HHS won all five of their matches, sweeping both singles and doubles.  

First singles saw Reese Leibreich win in straight sets over Justin Haldeman 6-0, 6-0. In second singles, Alex Rhoads won over Case Webb, also in straight sets, at 6-0, 6-4. Patrick Shanahan won third singles via forfeit.

First doubles was won by the HHS team of Zach Basford and Ryan Palmer as they defeated Brice Pickstick and Riley Evans 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Second doubles was won by Hillsboro's Michael Gunderman and Patrick Shanahan as they took down Luke Carlson and Sam McGregor 6-1, 6-1.

On April 30, the Indians swept a doubleheader with East Clinton.

In the first meeting of the day, Leibreich won first singles over Grant Joy 6-0, 6-1. Rhoads defeated Marshall Pickering 6-0, 6-3 in second singles, and Shanahan swept Cody Bingham 6-0, 6-0 for a third singles win.

Gunderman and Palmer lost in first doubles to East Clinton's Gunnar Goodman and Paul Lutteral 5-7, 3-6, and in second doubles, Sawyer Davis and Basford fell to Gage Goodman and Nathan Dean 1-6, 2-6.

In the second match of the day, Leibreich won first singles by defeating Joy 6-0, 6-1. Rhoads topped Marshall Pickering 6-3, 6-2 in second singles, and Shanahan won third singles over Bingham 6-0, 6-0.

Gunderman and Palmer lost to Gunnar Goodman and Lutteral 3-6, 1-6 in first doubles, while Eltzroth and Basford defeated Gage Goodman and Dean 6-3, 7-5.
