Hillsboro softball defeats Jackson and Miami Trace this week

The Frontier Athletic Conference runs through Hillsboro for a second consecutive season, as the Lady Indians added to their conference and overall win totals this week with wins over the Jackson Ironladies on Monday and the Miami Trace Lady Panthers on Wednesday night.
The wins move HHS to 14-4 overall with a FAC record of 9-0 with one FAC game left, which is a makeup game against the Washington Lady Blue Lions in Hillsboro.
The game on Monday (May 2) saw HHS win at Alice Cassner Field by a 17-2 score against visiting Jackson. Though Jackson led 2-0 after the first inning, HHS tied the score with a two-run inning of their own in the bottom of the second.
From there, HHS added a six-run third inning and a nine-run fourth inning for the 15-run conference victory.
In all, HHS collected 17 runs, 17 hits and no errors, while the visiting Ironladies totaled two runs, three hits and committed five errors.
Seven Hillsboro players finished with at least two hits, and two of those players collected three hits in the win over Jackson.
Gracey Dearmon went 3-for-4 with one run and four RBI, while Emma Taylor was 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and one walk.
Also for the Lady Indians, Halle Reveal was 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI; Kayla Roberts went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI; Cam Spruell finished 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI; Kinsey Gilliland ended the day at 2-for-3 with three runs, one RBI and a walk; and Isabelle Brunck was 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a walk.
Reagan Clemons and Rhianna Clemons each scored a run for HHS, KaleyJo Myers collected two walks and an RBI, and teammate Kenzie Dietrick had a hit.
Spruell and Gilliland both had a double, and Spruell added a triple. Gilliland also finished with two steals, while Reveal and Myers each were hit by a pitch.
Roberts was the winning pitcher with five innings pitched for the complete game. She allowed two earned runs on three hits and one walk, while collecting seven strikeouts.
On Wednesday, May 4, the Lady Indians continued their dominance in the FAC with a 20-1 win over the host Miami Trace Panthers in five innings at MTHS.
Hillsboro led 2-1 at the completion of the first inning, and from there they never looked back with one run in the second, another run scored in the top of the third, plus a four-run fourth inning, then the icing on the cake was a 12-run fifth inning by HHS.
In all, HHS totaled 20 hits, 20 runs and had one error. Miami Trace finished with two hits and four errors.
Reveal was on fire at the plate, as the lead-off hitter was 5-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. Roberts went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI and one walk.
Spruell finished 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBI. HHS teammate Gilliland finished 2-for-3 with two runs. Morgan Garman had one run scored and walked once for Hillsboro.

Eowyn Brown was 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Hannah Burton scored a run and had a walk. Bre Karnes finished with two runs and a walk, while Mylea Fridley was 1-for-1 with a run scored. Brunck finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Hillsboro in the FAC victory.
For HHS, Dearmon had a double, Brown tripled and Spruell hit a home run for three extra-base hits for the Lady Indians.
